tips to stay well during sick season

i shared these tips a few weeks ago in my newsletter - if you’re not subscribed, click that link & come hang! think life updates, random musings, things i’m loving, & i always end them with a poem 🥹

how is sick season already starting!? i ain’t ready. last year we were out (& i mean OUT OUT) basically every other week with a bug, & already this season we’ve gotten sick as a whole fam multiple times! 🤧

i cannoooot mentally handle another fall & winter like that (especially with 2 young kids) so i am NOT messing around this year. the last few days i have come up with a master plan to stay well 🤠 & i wanted to share it with you too!

1 // washing my hands + using hand sani 24/7 (& making my family do so as well!) the second we walk out of a public place, TIME FOR A SPRITZ, BBS. i bought these cuuute soft matte hand sanitizers this week. they smell s'good (eucalyptus & lavender are my fave) 🌿  & if you have a Sprouts where you live, you haveee to get their sandalwood + sage soap!!! i saw a tiktok claiming it's a dupe for my fave Aesop hand soap & it really is! only $4.99 👌

2 // going to sleep sooo early lol i have been IN BED by 8/830pm these days. now that the sun is going down earlier, my body is just ready for rest earlier. for me, getting consistently good sleep is the biggest factor in keeping my immune system strong. also quick mom poll…for ziggy's first 3 months, she only woke up twice a night but lately it's been like 6 💀 has this happened to any of your babies? do i have hope that she'll go back to normal? my oura ring wake-up stats are scary these days 👻  if you need motivation to get better sleep, get a freaking oura ring. i swear seeing my sleep patterns + sleep score every morning makes me so much more motivated to get to bed earlier 🤷‍♀️

3 // VITAMINS! i'm pretty regular with my supplement routine but i slacked off the week before i got sick & i SWEAR it contributed to me going down so hard. currently i take: beef liver, shilajit, oyster min, nutrafol, fermented cod liver oil, & mulitgreens. & then i take 2 servings of ARMRA colostrum (ABIGAIL gets you 10% off) & magnesium before bed. i’m going to up my Oyster intake to 6 capsules a day (ABIGAIL10 for 10% off)+ add in whole food vitamin C through Acerola Cherry or Camu Camu in smoothies 🍊 oh & i drink a pack of LMNT pretty much every day for good hydration & minerals ✅  ABIGAIL10 should give you 10% off beef liver & acerola & ABIGAIL will get you 25% off of the moon juice magnesium 🌙 all the other stuff is linked here in my amazon storefront! along the same lines as supps, i'm proactively applying essential oils too. thieves on my feet & oregano in capsules when needed.

4 // hygiene bath at first sign of sickness, especially fever 🛀  my friend Audrey shared about hygiene baths in one of her newsletters so i figured i'd give it a try & no joke, immediately after i took one…i started feeling much better 👀  so i am s-o-l-d  🙌  add 1 cup of Canning & Pickling Salt + 1 tablespoon iodine (fine to eyeball these) to a hot bath & soak for 30 min. safe & effective for kiddos too! here's more info on it. i also love epsom salt baths with frankincense oil when i'm sick!

5 // sunshine ☀️  even though the temps are dropping, i still want to get in the sun every day for that vitamin D, baby. there are so many studies that getting enough vitamin D helps your body fight off viruses & bacteria 🥊 even on cold days, i plan to sit on the porch swing to get sunshine first thing every morning & go on short evening family walks!

while none of these tips are surefire ways to avoid getting sick, usually when i’m taking care of my body, any sickness that does come around disappears wayyyy faster than it would otherwise!

would love to hear your tips too - drop them in the comments so we can all get ideas! best of luck staying well this season 🫡
